Meghan Markle and Harry stepped down from their royal duties in March 2020 to live in the US but Harry still holds the title of Prince by birth.
Harry is still in line to the succession of British throne and stands sixth in position after Prince Charles. He has chances of regaining the title of Duke of Sussex when Prince Charles becomes the King.
Meghan and Harry have been using the titles of Duke and Duchess of Sussex even after leaving from the royal duties back in 2020. They have been titled by the Queen Elizabeth II on their wedding in 2018 and continue to use the titles for their professional commitments.
They might be given back their royal duties after the Queen dies and Prince Charles takes over the title of King.
But, royal author Tom Bower suspects that Meghan and Harry might end up losing their royal status after the publication of Harry’s tell-all memoir. The memoir is under discussion and controversy before the launch as it is assumed to be creating a rift between the royals once it’s out.
Harry and Meghan stepped down from their duties as senior working royals. The reason mentioned by them is the unbearable pressure from the royal family and racist attitude towards Meghan. They moved to North America in 2020 to settle in Montecito in their £11m mansion.
Meghan has been reported to use the title of Duchess excessively. She seems to be obsessed with using the royal title and it is assumed that she is exploiting the status. Meghan Markle penned a letter to the US congress referring herself as Duchess in which she appealed for the paid family and medical leaves for the US citizens.
The ex-royal also introduced herself as the Duchess in children centric Youtube channel Brightly Storytime.
Meghan and Harry recently wrote an open letter to the G20 leaders to ensure vaccine supplies for all the nations. They used their titles as Duke and Duchess of Sussex in the letter’s sign off.
Meghan and Harry also attended the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee Celebration in the Royal Palace where they were seated in second row, prior to the working royals who were in the first row.
They have been repeatedly using the royal titles despite saying Good-Bye to the royal family. They don’t seem to behave as commoners. Prince Harry remains a British national despite all the feud and hasn’t applied for US citizenship still.
