Cameron Herrin is serving his 24 year jail period in Graceville Correctional Facility since 2021. On his 18th birthday in 2018, he was gifted a Ford Mustang by his parents. The High School Graduation Gift became a life-changing and terrible source of accident. The tragedy took two lives Jessica Reisinger Raubenolt, 24 years and her 21 month old child.
How was Jessica Reisinger Raubenolt killed?
According to reports, Cameron started street racing in Bayshore Boulevard with his classmates when a young mother was crossing the road along with her baby in a stroller. The poor Jessica was visiting his relatives in Tampa from Ohio when the fatal crash happened. On that morning, she went for a walk with her 21 month old daughter, Lillia in a stroller when they were approached by a reckless Mustang which killed them. Jessica died on spot and the baby lost her life later on the same day.
Cameron Herrin Jailed for 24 years
Cameron got arrested along with his brother Tristan for this unfortunate accident and vehicular homicide. He was driving at more than 100mph speed. His friend John Barrineau was also part of street racing that day and both were pleaded guilty for the murder charges. Witnesses said that Herrin was racing in a Mustang with his friend Barrineau who was in Nissan Altimo speeding towards north of Bayshore. Barrineau was charged with six years imprisonment after plea deal.

Cameron made an appeal in May 2020 that why he was sentenced for 24 years when his friend he was in the race with him received 6years imprisonment. The campaign started on social media trending with hashtag #justiceforcameronherrin and addressing the sentence is unjustified. He is just 18 years and he made a terrible mistake. Herrin’s mother told that she has been receiving letters and messages in support of his son. She claimed it an ‘unhealthy obsession’ by his followers with his looks.
The judge sentenced him for two counts on vehicular homicide in Florida State Prison, nine years for one account and 15 years for another. Herrin left it on the judge to decide his penalty. Later, He made an appeal to reconsider the case but it was denied.
Herrin’s Attorney, Fitzgibbons
Herrin’s attorney, John Fitzgibbons argued that his jail sentencing of 24 years is excessive infront of 6 years for his fellow racer. The prosecutor Jonathan Hurray argued Judge Christopher Nash that he has given justified sentencing followed by law. It doesn’t matter who was he was racing with, it’s his car which caused this horrific vehicular homicide. The attorney said that he is evaluating again what options he have.
The grief is unbearable, said the victim’s father. The victim’s family shared memories of Jessica Reisinger and Lillia on the day of case hearing and it was a emotional sight for everyone.
