Sophia rosing expelled- Community people have come out in support of a University of Kentucky student who was attacked and subjected to racial epithets and slurs late on Saturday night.
As stated in a letter to students from Eli Capilouto, president at the University of Kentucky, Kylah Spring, who is a first-year student from Memphis, is the subject of a recent viral video showing another student intoxicatedly shouting “racial slurs and derogatory words” toward Spring.
Sophia Rosing, a senior at the University of Kentucky, can be seen repeatedly trying to slap Spring while yelling racist slurs and other abusive words in her face throughout the video. While Spring tries to create some distance between themselves, Rosing appears to fall.
In another video, Rosing appears to grasp a shopping cart from the hallway and try to push toward Spring and another person in the area. Rosing also bit Spring in the arm.
Rosing was shown in the video staggering into Boyd Hall on the campus while obviously intoxicated. She stumbled over to the student employee working at the main desk of the dorm.
In a TikTok video, the student employee Kylah Spring detailed how she attempted to check on Rosing but, instead was verbally and physically assaulted.
University of Kentucky statement
The University of Kentucky released a statement on social media stating that this behaviour is never tolerated at the UK and that the Office of Student Conduct and the Office of Institutional Equity and Equal Opportunity are initiating quick reviews.
The statement mentions, “We are aware of this incident. The video is deeply offensive, and we take it very seriously. An arrest has been made in this incident. We are conducting an immediate review and have reached out to the student victim to offer support. The safety and well-being of our students is our top priority, and we will not tolerate behavior that threatens it. As we know more details, we will share more information.”
However, there are no reports related is Sophia rosing expelled or not. But, for right now she is not expelled from the college.
Moreover, Sophia was present for her trial via video link with her parents Rosing Jr. and Algie. Her parents posted the $10,000 bond, and she was released from custody after entering a not-guilty plea to all charges.
Rosing is not allowed to speak to Spring, go back to Boyd Hall, or consume alcoholic beverages. Sophia’s membership in College Fashionista and connection with the Dillard department store were terminated as a result of her racial outburst too.
