Queen Elizabeth II reign length is more than 70 years starting in February 1952 after the death of her father King George VI. She passed away on September 8, 2022 and her longest reign period ended at the age of 96. The monarch ruled for seven decades marking the historic length of longest reign in power.
Her majesty Queen Elizabeth II celebrated her 70 years on the throne in June 2022 on her Platinum Jubilee Event. She also celebrated her public birthday on June 2, 2022 at an event called Trooping the Colour. She made an appearance in blue outfit for her historic reign of 70 years during Platinum Jubilee along with other British family members. Her actual birth date was April 21.

She died peacefully in Balmoral Castle in the afternoon of September 8. The Queen was under medical supervision hours before Her Majesty’s death due to her health condition. The Buckingham Palace released a statement that ” The Queen remains comfortable at Balmoral and Royal Highnesses, The Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall have traveled to Balmoral.”
Along with Charles and Camila, Queen’s sons Prince Andrew and Prince Edward were spotted at the airport shortly before Her Majesty’s death. Prince William was also seen at the airport.
The death of Queen Elizabeth elevated Prince Charles to the throne as King Charles III and his wife Camila as Queen Consort. Prince William is next in line of succession.
Throughout Queen Elizabeth II reign length, she travelled the whole of United Kingdom and across the world as Queen of United Kingdom and Queen of Commonwealth. She was guided by duty and public service on her official visits and opening ceremonies. She visited openings of buildings including Swiss Cottage Library, Euston Station, the Royal Free Hospital and many more. She began her throne in the midst when UK was recovering from post-war effects.
She was only 25 at that time when she became the Queen. Queen Elizabeth married Prince Philip Mountbatten on November 20, 1947 and raised three sons King Charles III, Prince Andrew, Prince Edward and a daughter Princess Anne. Her marriage was also the longest of any British sovereign marking 73 years before the death of Prince Philip on April 9, 2021.
Queen Elizabeth’s last public engagement was her meeting the new prime minister of UK Liz Truss at Balmoral Castle. The Queen appointed her as new PM and First Lord of the Treasury.

Queen Elizabeth II was under medical supervision at that time when she made the last public appearance on September 6, 2022. On September 7, The Queen postponed her meeting with Privy Council. The newly appointed PM Liz Truss gave a speech after the Queen’s death saying ” We all are deeply devastated by the news of her death from Balmoral. The death is a huge shock to the nation and to the World. Queen Elizabeth was the rock on which modern Britain was built. Britain is the great country it is today because of her.”
