Queen consort Camilla coronation crown- The search for a crown for Queen Camilla has begun.
Queen consort Camilla will require a suitable headpiece when she is crowned along with King Charles at his coronation on May 6, 2023, but which one the couple will choose is still up in the air.
As the debate over the origins of the famous Koh-i-Nûr diamond rages on, we take a look inside the royal vault to see what substitute regalia might be considered suitable for the historic event. Koh-i-Noor is the centrepiece of Queen Elizabeth, the Queen Mother’s, and the most obvious choice for Camilla.
One potential candidate is Queen Adelaide’s opulent crown from 1831. King William IV’s wife, dressed in a white and gold gown, commissioned a new brand coronation crown for their crowning. Rather than using borrowed gems, as was customary at the time, Adelaide employed her own diamonds for the crown, which was later removed.
However, royal jewellery expert Lauren Kiehna of The Court Jeweller told PEOPLE that Camilla’s chances of wearing the nearly 200-year-old crown are remote.
“The only original part of that crown is its frame, which is likely to be much heavier and more difficult to balance than a more modern frame because of the materials used to make it,” said Keihna.
Likewise, the crowns of Queen Alexandra and Queen Mary, who both wore the Koh-i-Nûr gemstone during their coronations in 1902 and 1911, are made out of gold and silver. And are certainly too heavy for modern-day usage.
Another possibility of Queen consort Camilla coronation crown is to utilize Queen Elizabeth, the Queen Mother’s crown, which she wore for her coronation along with King George VI in 1937, but to consider replacing the controversial Koh-i-Nûr diamond with crystal or any other gem.

“Of the available crowns, it is by far the lightest and easiest to wear because it has a platinum frame,” Lauren Kiehna described to People.
When will coronation take place?
The coronation of Charles III and Camilla as king and queen consort of the United Kingdom and the Commonwealth realms is scheduled for Saturday, May 6, 2023, at Westminster Abbey. It is the same date as grandson Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor’s fourth birthday.
Queen Elizabeth, the Queen Mother, was the last queen consort to be crowned in Westminster Abbey during King George VI’s coronation in 1937. According to the Royal Collection Trust, she was handed down a purple velvet crown with ermine trim and 2,800 diamonds at the time.
